First Financial Bank

Community Development Report

With $14 billion in assets and over 150 banking centers in three states, Cincinnati-based First Financial Bank is one of the region’s largest bank holding companies, and one of its oldest, having been established in 1863.

First Financial is also a community-centered bank, committed to making those communities better places to live through strategic grants and sponsorships that support economic development, education and neighborhood development.

To highlight the bank’s good work, they engaged Black & White to create a brand to symbolize their commitment to the community and to create their first Community Development report.

And when a bank offers you a penny for your thoughts, always jump at the chance.

We started by designing a new brand for the bank’s community development initiative which plays on the five areas of focus: Access, Lending, Investing, Volunteerism and Education.

We also created iconography for each area of focus which integrates the bank’s new corporate identity.

For the report theme, we landed on “Enhancing Life Responsibly” – a perfect summation of the bank’s efforts.

Illustrations were created as part of the community development brand that extend across all print and digital platforms

A joint letter from the CEO and the Director of Community Development emphasizes the importance of the topic to the bank. .

Each section of the report has a divider graphic and is color coded for clarity. Highlighted are the community stories that were made possible through the bank’s grants and sponsorships.
