BlueChip Brand Identity Case Study:

Black & White was challenged to create a brand for a new product that would significantly help improve safety in youth sports.

Case Study:

Black & White was challenged to create a brand for a new product that would significantly help improve safety in youth sports.

With 113 million kids playing helmeted youth sports in the U.S., that gave us 113 million reasons to say yes.

Using sensor technology to monitor both heat and impact events, this product would be the first of its kind on the market. A product parents could trust to alert their children’s coaches and trainers of potentially life threatening concussions or heat stroke.

We needed to create a name reflective of the technology and its application, so we conducted a brand audit of the marketplace, collaborated with the appropriate stakeholders, and landed on...

The name BlueChip was selected for the strong association with top-rated high school athletes as well as its nod to technology through the term “chip”.

We also developed a tagline to help convey the attributes of the product...

We created an identity program including a symbol and logotype, a brand color palette and a stationery system.

We also designed collateral materials, developed the website, and created messaging to help support the new brand.

“Black & White asked the right questions to understand the core of what our technology has to offer. The brand development exercises really helped us think through our points of differentiation to not only create the naming and identity, but to help us in terms of the value proposition of our product.”
